NeLeSo unveils open EV charging platform for on-premise operation

An alternative to classic cloud models: run charging infrastructure entirely under your own control

NeLeSo presents a new platform for managing and operating charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The solution combines functions such as charge point management, OCPP backend, smart charging, roaming, billing and Plug & Charge in one integrated platform and can be run either as a managed service or fully on the customer’s own infrastructure.

While many charging infrastructure operators rely on public cloud systems, NeLeSo takes a different approach: the platform can be operated entirely on-premise or within the customer’s own cloud environment. This keeps operational and usage data fully under the operator’s control.

Many companies today face the challenge of integrating a variety of specialised systems for charging infrastructure, roaming, billing and fleet management. At the same time, requirements for data protection, data sovereignty and control over critical infrastructure keep rising. With our platform, we bring these functions together in one coherent architecture.

The platform supports the charging protocols OCPP 1.6J and OCPP 2.0.1 as well as the roaming standards OCPI 2.2 and 2.3. It also includes functions for intelligent load management, firmware management, Plug & Charge in line with ISO 15118, and open interfaces for integration into existing IT landscapes.

A particular focus lies on the openness of the platform. All functions are based on standardised APIs and can be deployed modularly. Operators can use individual components such as the OCPP backend or the charge point management system independently of one another and expand step by step.

As a first step, NeLeSo initially addresses depots of municipal utilities and logistics companies where buses and trucks are charged. In a second step, the offering will be extended to energy suppliers, fleet operators, charge point operators and providers of mobility and roaming services. Especially in larger organisations, the questions of data sovereignty and avoiding vendor lock-in are becoming increasingly important.

Beyond operating public charging infrastructure, NeLeSo also supports use cases such as home charging of company cars, automated reimbursement of charging costs, and the management of complex charging infrastructure across multiple sites.

The platform is already in productive use. References include BMW, DEKRA and DepotCharge, among others. In total, the solution supports more than 50 different charge point models and is used in productive operation at numerous sites.

As charging infrastructure continues to expand, so does the need for open and flexibly operable software platforms. NeLeSo positions itself as an alternative to classic SaaS solutions, combining a modular architecture, open standards and full data sovereignty for operators.
